India American Cultural Association (IACA) celebrated India’s 63rd Republic Day with joy and pride on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Consul General Kumar raised the tricolor on a festive day.

The Bengali Association of Greater Atlanta (BAGA) celebrated Saraswati Puja on January 28, 2012. Hathe kori was also held: tiny tots offered their homage to the goddess of education by writing their first lines using chalk on a piece of slate.

The Senior Citizens Program (SCP) got off to a flying New Year start with a spirited Mata Ki Chowki (devotional program). Seniors enjoyed Bhajans, some with popular ’filmi’ drum beats adapted to devotional songs.

On the very chilly evening of 11th February 2012, the audience at Berkmar High School enjoyed four short plays, with emotion, comedy, and music, presented by Dhoop Chaoon group, led by program director Sandhya Bhagat.

NCP North America Inc has been launched by Party President and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. Declared apolitical in nature, its Decatur office was opened on 26th January, by President Raj Sharma. Mihir Desai is President for the Southeast Region.

The annual Hindi–Urdu Saanjhe Bol took place on 17th December, 2011. Around 35 poets came, from all age groups and walks of life, from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and even Jamaica and Bhutan.
