Women honored as entrepreneurs in technology

Kanchana Raman (photo, left), TiE Atlanta’s past president and current charter mentor and board member, is the recipient
of the 2018 Emory Entrepreneur Awards, Technology category, for her success with Avion Networks, Inc. and the
work she has done to foster entrepreneurship in the local community. The award was presented by the Emory
Entrepreneur Network and Office of Alumni Engagement.

Also, five South Asian women were included among the honorees at the 2018 WIT (Women in Technology)
Awards in Atlanta. Neera Mathur, senior technical staff member, IBM, was in the large organization category, along
with Shanthala Rao, VP of IT at Primerica, and Shalima (Shally) Pannikode, VP of IT at Anthem. In the mid-size
organization category, Dr. Sweta Sneha, an executive director (MSHMI program) at KSU Cole College of Business,
was an honoree. And Dr. Jyoti Sharma, in the nonprofit category, is a cardiologist at Piedmont Healthcare, and
medical director of the women’s heart program.
