Farhan Khan, a PhD student in environmental engineering working in the Pinto Lab at Georgia Institute of Technology, is helping bring faster, more accessible microbial monitoring technology to market through the startup Skopii. Khan develops low-cost tools for environmental and algal monitoring. He earned his BS and MS degrees from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and has expertise in hardware and software design, machine learning, sensor integration, and water quality monitoring. The technology gained recognition when he and Gincley were named national champions in the Department of Energy’s Algae Prize competition.
