Business educator and technology scholar Dr. Saby Mitra has been named the next John H. Harland Dean of Goizueta Business School at Emory University. Mitra joins Emory from the University of Florida, where he has served as dean of the Warrington College of Business since 2020. During his tenure, he expanded AI-focused education, strengthened online programs, increased philanthropic support, and oversaw the launch of new graduate program locations in Miami and Jacksonville. Before moving to Florida, Mitra spent 27 years at Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business in a series of academic and leadership roles, helping develop interdisciplinary programs that bridged business, engineering, computing, and medicine.
An expert in information systems and technology management, Mitra’s research spans business analytics, information security, IT governance, online consumer behavior, and platform ecosystems. He earned a BTech in mechanical engineering from IIT Kanpur, and a PhD in management science from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. As dean of Goizueta, Mitra, who succeeds Gareth James, will lead a business school serving more than 2,300 students and overseeing undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.
