Riya Patel starts a club that focuses on heart and mental health

Riya Patel, a fourth-year genetics and biology major from Duluth, is the founder of the Athens chapter of Hearts for the Homeless, a student club at the University of Georgia that provides a combination of education and service focused on heart and mental health. Her club provides free screenings and training sessions to those who are struggling to find medical care. Picked by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for its yearly Everyday Heroes project, she is among the “52 inspiring Georgians who have done their small part to make a big difference.”
