Indian American students, alumni, and faculty affiliated with Georgia universities have been selected for Fulbright awards for 2026-27, taking their research and teaching to India, Canada, Spain, the Netherlands, and other international destinations.
Fulbright Study and Research Awards: Emory graduate Aanya Ravichander received a Fulbright-Nehru Open Study/Research Award to study postpartum depression and abuse in Chennai. Georgia State graduate Puja Raol received a Fulbright-Nehru award to research mental health disparities among young people and culturally responsive interventions in rural India. Chetna Batra, a 2023 Georgia State graduate, received a Fulbright award to conduct biological sciences research in Canada. Georgia Tech graduate Divya Tadanki received a Fulbright research award to the Netherlands, where she will conduct biological research at the University of Groningen. Georgia Tech graduate Sonali Kaluri received a Fulbright research award to Spain, where she will study the health of migrant workers in the digital platform economy at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health. Georgia Tech graduate Diya Chutani will pursue a PhD in neuroscience at Western University in Ontario, working in its Music and Neuroscience Lab.
Fulbright English Teaching Award: Emory graduate Sia Kripalani was selected as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Spain for the 2026-27 academic year.
Fulbright U.S. Scholar: Dr. Javad Anjum, an assistant professor at the University of Georgia’s Mary Frances Early College of Education, received a Fulbright Nehru Academic & Professional Excellence Award for teaching and research in India.
Fulbright Canada-Mitacs Globalink Research Internships: Syona Gupta is part of Georgia Tech’s 2026 cohort, whose projects span neurodevelopment, renewable energy, hydrogen storage, and carbon sequestration. Swathi Mugundu Pradeep will join the Georgia Tech cohort conducting advanced summer research at Canadian institutions. Nidhi Shenoy, a biochemistry student, will conduct research at Dalhousie University Medical School in New Brunswick.
