Georgia Southern University has named Abhijit Bhattacharyya as the next dean of its College of Engineering and Computing. He currently serves as the inaugural dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Arkansas State University. Since joining ASU, he led strategic growth focused on student success, workforce development, and research expansion, launching new academic programs in high-demand fields, strengthening industry partnerships, and advancing initiatives supporting student recruitment, retention, and career readiness. He’s a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and has served as an ABET program evaluator, participating in accreditation reviews for engineering programs. Bhattacharyya, an IIT alum, earned his PhD in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
