Smriti Madhana has become the all‑time leading run‑scorer in women’s international cricket, passing former India captain Maithali Raj. She achieved the distinction while scoring 124 runs against Hong Kong at the Women’s Asia Cup in Dubai, leading India to a resounding 137-run victory. Mandhana, 30, finished the match with 10,880 runs in all formats, a dozen more than Raj’s 10,868 runs. Mandhana called Raj a “legend and a role model,” saying that she “never imagined” breaking her record.
Raj, 43, who retired from international cricket in 2022, lauded Mandhana on X: “I’ve watched you grow from a young player into one of the finest batters India has produced. To see you go past my record and become the highest run-scorer in international cricket is a moment I’m
genuinely proud of.”
