At Ambaji USA (Shree Shakti Mandir) in Lake City, Georgia, Holi is one of the most important festivals to be celebrated. Crowds gather from all over Atlanta to celebrate this festival at the temple.
This year on Sunday, March 8, 2020, the weather was perfect for such a celebration. Approximately 2,000 devotees attended the evening celebrations in the grounds of the temple. The huge bonfire, almost 20-25 feet high, could be seen from a distance. Lighting the bonfire during Holi celebrations is part of Holika Dahan, a ritual that symbolizes the burning of evil powers. The devotees went round the fire with their offerings of coconuts, water, and popcorn to seek blessings for their family.
The Holi festivities spread happiness, love, and brotherhood. Everyone who attended enjoyed a full dinner served by Ambaji volunteers.
