On April 19, 2026, Chinmaya Mission Atlanta and Chinmaya Mission Alpharetta jointly hosted the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav at North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, commemorating 75 years of the Chinmaya movement’s spiritual and educational legacy.

More than 2,000 devotees, students, youth, community leaders, and members of the public attended the evening-long celebration honoring the life and vision of Swami Chinmayananda and the Mission’s global impact. The program featured mass chanting of Chapter 15 of the Bhagavad Gita, Gita Panchamrit recitations, music, dance performances, and spiritual discourses.

Students, teachers, parents, and volunteers from both centers spent months preparing for the event under the guidance of Brahmacharini Jyoti Chaitanya and Acharyas Dr. G.V. Raghu, Geetha Raghu, Siva Velu, and Sushma Siva. The venue also included exhibits highlighting the Mission’s history, Bala Vihar programs, cultural displays, and a bookstore.

The evening opened with a dance presentation by Bala Vihar teachers honoring Guru Paduka and welcoming guests. Following the invocation and national anthem, Velu highlighted the Mission’s 25-year presence in Atlanta and noted that more than 1,000 children attend weekly classes across centers in Riverdale, Norcross, Alpharetta, and Marietta.

Jyoti Chaitanya then presented an overview of Chapter 15, Purushottama Yoga, followed by Gita Dhyanam. Members of Atlanta’s cultural community presented a music-and-dance interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita meditation verses. Musical compositions for the slokas were set by Subhashini Krishnamurthy and Sujatha Raburn, while the dance segments were choreographed in Bharatanatyam by Savitha Viswanathan, in Kuchipudi by Sasikala Penumarthi, and in Odissi by Saritha Sahu.

The performances by students and teachers led into the evening’s centerpiece: a mass chanting of Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15. The chanting was led in three rounds by children and representatives from Chinmaya Mission Atlanta, Swami Ganapati Satchidananda Gita Foundation, and Chinmaya Mission Alpharetta. Organizers said the collective recitation by more than 2,000 participants created a meditative and uplifting atmosphere.
