A portion of Devon Avenue in Chicago is named after founding leader of Bangladesh

October 28, 1997 - A portion of Devon Avenue in Chicago is named Sheikh Mujib Way, after Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding leader of Bangladesh. On the day of the unveiling, Devon Avenue was festively decorated with life size photographs of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangladeshi flags. Other parts of Devon have also been symbolically renamed as Gandhi Marg and Muhammad Ali Jinnah Way.
