It?s going to be the clash of the Titans for sure. While Devdas has been chosen as India?s entry in the foreign language film category of the Oscars, Britain for the first time has also sent a Hindi film, Asif Kapadia?s The Warrior as its entry in the same section.
At least 30 films are slated to be released between December and January. Figuring high on the biggie list is Kaante, whose most recent scheduled date of release is December 6. Then there is the Suneel Darshan-directed Talaash with Akshay Kumar and Kareena, and Rishtey starring Anil Kapoor and Karisma. Saathiya directed by debutant Shaad Ali starring Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee, is slated to be released on December 20. The movie revolves around a newly married couple coping with marital pressures as they juggle their demanding careers. Another scheduled December release is Juhi Babbar?s debut film Kaash Aap Hamare Hote in which her co-star is Sonu Nigam. Juhi is Raj Babbar?s daughter.

Industry sources say that Ashutosh ?Lagaan? Gowarikar?s latest project, Desh will star Shah Rukh Khan and not Aamir as was expected. SRK has apparently given Gowarikar dates from January 2003 onwards. Reportedly Aamir?s commitment with other directors has come in the way of his acting in Desh. He has almost signed on the dotted line for Ketan Mehta?s film which will be based on the historical figure Mangal Pandey, one of the key revolutionaries in the revolt of 1857 against the British. Lagaan incidentally is going to be dubbed in Chinese. Ashutosh plans to release the film in China with English sub-titles.
Sunny Deol fans can look forward to a bonanza of sorts soon. First there?s Jaal the Trap with Jackie Shroff, then there?s Karz-The Burden with Shilpa Shetty and Sunil Shetty and The Hero with Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta as co-stars.
Raj Kumar Santoshi has announced his new film titled Khakee with Amitabh Bachchan playing the central character. The other actors who have been signed on for the movie are Akshay Kumar, Akshaye Khanna and Ajay Devgan.
