Amitabh Bachchan is all set to do a film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, tentatively titled Black. Rani Mukherjee has also been signed for it. It's supposed to be an uplifting tale of the triumph of the human spirit. The movie is expected to go on the floors by the year-end.
Australian Test skipper Steve Waugh is planning an innings on celluloid, where the children's home Udayan and its inmates ? children of leprosy sufferers ? are likely to be the focus. The script written by an Australian scriptwriter is more or less ready. Waugh will act in the full-length feature film, which will be shot in India.
Mahima Chaudhary will be seen in an arty role in Iqbal Durrani's Gandhi Se Pehle Gandhi. The film is based on the life of legendary tribal leader Birsa Munda. Munda was the hero of the tribals of Jharkhand, who fought against the oppressive rule of the British Government. He was finally captured and died in prison. Mahima will play Birsa's lover Phali.
Kajol's sister Tanisha is all set to make her debut in a film interestingly titled Shhh? Her co-star in it is Dino Morea.
Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh is contemplating signing up Ajay Devgan for his debut Hindi venture, along with Kareena Kapoor. Another renowned Bengali filmmaker, Aparna Sen, is also casting Devgan in her next film Gulel, co-starring Saif Ali Khan. The movie is about male bonding. Devgan is on a high having won the National Award for his performance in The Legend of Bhagat Singh.
In the first premiere of a Hollywood blockbuster in India, Sean Connery will lead the cast of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to Delhi and Mumbai in September. The movie also stars Naseeruddin Shah in a substantial role. The film was released in the US in July.
