Movie Update February 2003
After Mission Kashmir, director Vidhu Vinod Chopra is in the news again, this time for a Hollywood film titled The Fifth Move, originally titled Chess. Besides Amitabh Bachchan, the movie is expected to star Paul Newman and Dustin Hoffman. Meanwhile, Tabu has replaced Rani Mukherjee in Vidhu Chopra?s Munnabhai MBBS that?s going to be directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The leading man is Sanjay Dutt.
Amitabh Bachchan, Nana Patekar and Ajay Devgan have been finalised for Ram Gopal Varma?s next project titled Ek. Meanwhile, Ajay Devgan and Varma will be co-producing a film titled Murder in Srikrishna Building.
After Dil Ka Rishta, Arjun Rampal and Aishwarya Rai are reportedly coming together again in Rajiv Rai?s next project titled Asambhav. Arjun had also starred in Rai?s last film Pyar Ishq Mohabbat which bombed at the box office.
Akbar Khan for his extravaganza Taj Mahal ? An Eternal Love Story has roped in Sonya Jehan for the lead role. Sonya is a Pakistani citizen and is the granddaughter of the famous singer of yesteryears Noorjehan.
Banana Brothers, an English film with a few dialogues in Punjabi and Gujarati, and shot in Los Angeles and San Francisco, is expected to hit the theatres in February or March. Starring Anupam Kher and Gulshan Grover among others, Banana Brothers has been directed by debutant Girija Shankar, who is a well known character actor.
Shekhar Kapoor has announced his new venture titled Paani. The film will be a futuristic script based on India?s haves and have-nots, where water has been shown as a currency.
Yash and Karan Johar?s Dharma Productions is all set to start their new project Kal Ho Naa Ho. To be directed by Nikhil Advani, the movie stars Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta.
