Nilai Sarda: Runner-up in the National Geographic Bee
WHO: NILAI SARDA
WHY: Runner-up in the National Geographic Bee. In the tie-breaker round, Nilai answered three of the best-of-five questions correctly, but then lost to 13-year-old Tine Valencic. Nilai, aged 11, received a $15,000 college scholarship. Earlier this year, he won the Georgia Geographic Bee after beating 100 competitors.
WORTH knowing: The well-traveled Nilai created a guide that’s over 400 pages, featuring profiles of all the countries in the world. A member of his school’s quiz bowl team, Nilai enjoys debating, chess and reading. He wants to be a theoretical physicist.
WHERE: Nilai lives in Atlanta, where he completed seventh grade at The Wesminster Schools.
WHAT he said: “The secret that I use to study is to always type things up and never copy and paste from any website. For me, to type things up is to actually know it.”
