Vishnu Dontu and Sahil Sood, along with Brian Yoo, have won the Conrad Challenge Award, a global STEM competition for high school students honoring Apollo astronaut Pete Conrad. According to them, the use of tobacco plants is more efficient, cost-effective, and has an overall higher success rate. It also dodges the problem of allergies for people who can’t take a vaccine that was produced using eggs.
