Vajraang Kamat honored in Atlanta INtown’s “20 Under 20”
Vajraang Kamat, 18, of North Atlanta High School, was chosen by Atlanta INtown magazine as one of their eighth annual ‘20 Under 20’ honorees—students and graduates from Atlanta’s public and private schools who are giving back to the community in extraordinary ways. He has volunteered more than 2,000 hours over the past four years for local, national, and international projects for Embracing the World, a United Nations-recognized humanitarian organization for which he also serves as coordinator of the Southeast chapter of the youth wing, Ayudh. Locally, he does park cleanups, fundraisers, and works in shelter kitchens. Every summer and Thanksgiving break, he travels to 14 US cities for humanitarian projects and fundraisers. In South India, he worked with AMMACHI Labs’ robotics team. The North Atlanta Robotics Team, of which he is chief designer, designed and built a tree-planting robot and worked to clear Standing Peachtree Park along the Chattahoochee River. “We hope to keep working on and maintaining this park,” he says, “and, with the help of our robots, show how technology and service can go hand-in-hand for the betterment of society.”
