Four Indian-Americans were among the eleven 2018 recipients of the Emory Entrepreneur Awards for alumni. Those winners, to be honored at The Gathering Spot on February 7, 2019, were Vivek Garipalli, Ashish Mistry, and Rohit Malhotra, along with Kanchana Raman, who was included in our January Community Newsmakers column. As the Emory Entrepreneur Network points out, each of the eleven honorees demonstrates the highest caliber of innovation and is a founder of a rapidly growing organization.
Vivek Garipalli is the CEO and cofounder of San Francisco-based Clover Health, which relies on data insights and analytics programs to help caregivers and nurse practitioners do their job better. As a result, patients who are seniors get more benefit from programs like Medicare.

The Center for Civic Innovation, also based in Atlanta, was founded by Rohit Malhotra, who focuses on civic entrepreneurship, especially among women of color. The issues addressed include food security, education, art and culture, criminal justice reform, and community engagement.
Kanchana Raman (photo, left), TiE Atlanta’s past president and current charter mentor and board member, was noted in our January Community Newsmakers column as a recipient of the 2018 Emory Entrepreneur Awards, Technology category, for her success with Avion Networks, Inc. and the work she has done to foster entrepreneurship in the local community.
