Shyam Reddy to receive Pride of India Award for cancer research
Shyam Reddy will receive the Bharat Gaurav Award (Pride of India Award) given by the India International Friendship Society in New Delhi on Jan 6 th, 2011, to coincide with Parvasi Bharatiya Divas (Indian Diiaspora Conclave), at a conference on "Global Participation in India's Economic Development." Honoring individuals of Indian origin for outstanding leadership in fields such as education, science, medical services, engineering and architecture, the award has previously gone to Mother Teresa, Nobel laureates, elected officials, cricketers, actors, business magnates, and others.
Dr. Reddy’s work at the Morehouse School of Medicine, identifying the function of oncogenes and oncoproteins (proteins responsible for cancer) to develop novel drugs targeting various cancers, is described on his website www.reddyesp.com.
