Romil Mehta of Wheeler Magnet High School has won second place for the ASU Wells Fargo Community Innovation Award out of 618 projects submitted from 43 U.S. states and four nations. His project (“Go Green: Turn Brew Waste to Eco-fuel”) was honored for an outstanding approach to our global challenges. Romil will receive a cash prize of $1,000 as well as mentorship opportunities with the Arizona State University’s Rob and Melani Walton Sustainability Solutions Service. He was earlier picked as Dodgen Middle School’s 2020 CTAE Student of the Year. Last year he was awarded Tellus Future Science Stars Award at Georgia Science and Engineering Fair for another project (“Eco-Friendly Eletromagnetic Maglev Train”).
