Prof. Joyce Fuleckiger receives Emory Excellence Award
A 2003 recipient of Emory’s highest award for teaching, the Emory Williams Teaching Award, Dr. Joyce B. Fuleckiger, Ph.D., has now been honored with an Emory Women of Excellence Award. These awards celebrate women who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to issues affecting women at Emory and in the larger community. Flueckiger, who received a 2020 Award for Mentorship, has helped numerous Ph.D. candidates in the Religion, WGSS and Anthropology departments develop interdisciplinary dissertation work and attain tenure track positions at top institutions through her advising work. As Professor of Religion and Director of the Graduate Division of Religion at Emory University, she has authored many books, including When the World Becomes Female: Possibilities of a South Indian Goddess and Everyday Hinduism.
