Navin Gurnaney is new Tata Starbucks CEO
Atlantan Navin Gurnaney, who recently presented a show featuring master lyricist Javed Akhtar, is heading to India as the latest chief executive officer of Tata Starbucks.
In the U.S., Gurnaney has held various corporate positions at Starbucks since 2004. In India, he will take over from Sumit Ghosh on January 1, 2019. “I look forward to elevating the mission and values of the company through delivering the iconic Starbucks experience for our Indian partners and customers,” Gurnaney said in a statement. Ajoy Misra, managing director and CEO of Tata Global Beverages, said Gurnaney was the right person to build on the momentum created by Ghosh, who will return to the U.S. and continue working for Starbucks.
Launched in 2012, Tata Starbucks had Avani Davda as its first CEO. Ghosh took over from her in 2016. Tata Starbucks is a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Global Beverages and Starbucks Corporation in Seattle.
