Local student achieves top ACT score
Meghana Nallajerla, daughter of Kondal Nallajerla and Sandhya Yellapragada and a 11th Grader at Milton High School, earned a top composite score of 36 on her recent ACT test. Nationally, while the actual number of students earning a composite score of 36 varies from year to year, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score. Among test takers in the high school graduating class of 2012, only 781 of more than 1.66 million students earned a composite score of 36.
With a 4.0 average, Meghana has been in the Talented and Gifted (TAG) Program and the Harvard University Secondary School Program. She has received numerous awards in debate, science, and Spanish. She has volunteered or worked for Red Cross blood drives, UNICEF, Telugu and Sai organizations, and has served in many leadership roles. She even organized a candlelight vigil and protest against sexual violence at Georgia Institute of Technology—and she has also been a Kuchipudi dancer for 14 years.
