Harini Indrakrishnan wins a prize in North American dance festival

Harini Indrakrishnan, a 15-year-old sophomore at Woodward Academy, Atlanta, won second place in the 15-18 age group category of the Bharathanatyam Dance Competition at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival in Cleveland, Ohio, held in April 2012. The 35-year-old festival is the largest Indian classical music festival outside of India, with more than 8,000 attendees. Harini has been invited to perform in Chennai during the 2012 music and dance winter season festival.
Harini is a disciple of Subathra Sudarshan of Johns Creek, and has also been studying with teachers in Yogaville, Virginia. She also plays violin, competes in math tournaments and Odyssey of the Mind (a creative problem-solving competition), participates in Model UN, and volunteers. She believes in helping those in need through dance.
