GSU honors Sahil Bajaj as International Student of the Year
Sahil Bajaj, a graduate student in Neuroscience from the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the School of Nursing & Health Professions at Georgia State University, was presented with the International Student of the Year 2013 Award by GSU President Mark P. Becker. The award recognizes students who have made significant scholarly achievements at GSU, inspire global citizenship in others, and/or have made exemplary contributions to enrich the campus culturally and further international understanding.
Sahil believes that “Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.” With two neuroscience papers published and two more under way, he does not concentrate only on studies. He has been president of the Indian Student Association, with activities such as Welcome Party for international students, Diwali Hungama, Movie Night, Red Baraat's visit, Bone Marrow Drive, and much more. He has also held offices in his academic organizations, is website administrator for his department, and volunteered at the Georgia Science Olympiad. His sports include volleyball (captain) and cricket (founder/captain of ISA@GSU team and vice-captain of Goa-XI Cricket Team, Vibha Cricket Tournament).
Originally from Lehra Gaga (district Sangrur), Punjab, Indi, he would like to dedicate his award to his parents in India and hopes that this award will inspire others and be an example for students who are only study oriented.
