Fulton Students make grand showing at Science & Engineering Fair
Anand Srinivasan of Roswell High School has done it again: he won the 2014 Pinnacle Award for best project at the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair (GSEF) for middle and high schoolers, held at the University of Georgia. GSEF awarded four trips to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, and Anand represented Fulton County Schools there, winning Honorable Mention for his project, RNNScan: Eukaryotic Gene Finding via Hybrid Recurrent Neural Networks, and an all expense paid trip to tour CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, as well as one of eight awards of $3,000 in United Technologies Corporation common stock for projects showing excellence in science and engineering.
Other up and coming winners at GSEF were Madhav Ghatpande – Taylor Road Middle School, Ramtin Mahmoudkhani – Elkins Pointe MS, Sireesh Ramesh – Taylor Road MS, Puja Tripuraneni – Northview High School, Shamsya Khan and Hana Nazir – Johns Creek HS, Insiya Essani and Hersh Gupta – Johns Creek HS, Rajiv Reddy and Rick Saha – Alpharetta HS, Roxana Hojjatie and Agni Kumar – Milton HS.
