Dilipkumar Patel becomes first Indian president of GPPA

Dr. Dilipkumar Patel is president of the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association (GPPA) for 2023-2024. He becomes the first physician of Indian heritage to lead GPPA as president. He has served GPPA as a BOT member for two terms and has also been the founding chair of the International Psychiatry Committee of GPPA. He was awarded the Psychiatrist of the Year Award by GPPA in 2017. He has been past president of the Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Heritage (GAPI) from 2011 to 2012. He also has served as BOT and as BOT chair for GAPI and is currently serving his second term as a BOT member in GAPI. He has been chair of the IMG section of the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) for three years and a committee member of MAG’s Correctional Medicine Committee for many years. He was founding president of the Georgia Chapter of the Indo-American Psychiatric Association (IAPA) and has served as president of the National IAPA from 2017 to 2019. He currently serves as a BOT member of IAPA and has been office administrator for the IAPA. The National IAPA awarded him a service award. Dr. Patel has also been past president of Gujarati Samaj of Atlanta. Under his VP term in 1992, Gujarati Samaj organized its first health fair.
