Dhruv Krishnan develops stock market algorithm
Correction: In our September issue (Chai Time), the piece titled “Tampa Teen Develops Stock Market Algorithm” had the wrong photo. The name of the person whose picture we mistakenly published is also Dhruv Krishnan, and we failed to catch the coincidence. Our apologies. We’ve fixed the error online, and we’re including the correct photo here, along with a recap of his achievement.
Eighteen-year-old Dhruv Krishnan hopes to provide an easy solution for anyone lacking the knowledge or time to figure out which stocks to buy. He has developed an algorithm that makes decisions for investors, taking into consideration their goals and risk tolerance. Krishnan, a freshman studying computer science at Carnegie Mellon University, was inspired to create the algorithm because he wanted to help everyday people or organizations such as “charities, hospitals and nonprofits,” he told the Tampa Bay Times. Krishnan, who awaits approval on his patent applications, was picked for Tampa Bay Business Journal’s “25 under 25 Entrepreneurs” list. He hopes to pair his algorithm with a phone app or smart device.
