Dhruti Contractor recognized as a leader
Dhruti Contractor of Stone Mountain, Georgia, was just named one of UGA’s top “40 under forty” alumni for 2012. These prominent graduates have made an impact in business, leadership, community, educational, or philanthropic endeavors. They’ve demonstrated dedication to the University of Georgia and its mission of teaching, research, and service.
Dhruti, UGA class of 2000 and 2001, has learned to think about the deeper meaning behind what she does—and she wants to help people. She founded the Georgia Indian American Political Action Committee, a nonpartisan group that works to promote participation in the political process. She moved from biochemistry to public health and was a Public Health Prevention Service Fellow at the Centers for Disease and Prevention. She is now an Orthopedic Surgeon and Captain in the U.S. Army.
