As a fashion designer who owns 5th Season in Atlanta, Sushma Patel has long been known for her association with the Bollywood glitterati. Her clients include some of the hottest stars in the film world. Sushma belongs to a select group of Indian designers who have revived the ancient and traditional crafts of embroidery, printing and weaving. Not surprisingly, she was one of the few fashionistas to be represented at the Bollywood Fashion Awards in New York on August 12th. The others were Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Rachel Roy. Sushma's designs have shimmering floral patterns and bright colors that catch the eye. Each of her creations comes to life only after months of intensive work and experimentation. She designs and assembles her creation according to the fabric chosen. Sushma has noted that her goal is to achieve international recognition not only as an ethnic designer, but also as a mainstream designer who can appeal to cosmopolitan women everywhere. Appropriately, the collection she presented was called "Timelessness." These garments, with glittering Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones embedded in them, can be worn and treasured for years to come.
