On January 10 2015, local Atlanta artists, Sri Subra Viswanathan, Smt. Lakshmi Prabhakar, and Smt. Jassotha Balasubramaniam were conferred Natya Sangit Ratna Awards by Preeti Vinayak of the Natyam Arts Academy in Dunwoody, GA. All three artists have been associated with Preeti Vinayak for almost ten years. To mark this wonderful journey, Preeti Vinayak and Archith Seshadri presented the three artists with shawls and crystal plaques bearing the title, Natyam Sangit Ratna, at North Atlanta High School.
Subra, a mridangam exponent and vocalist, has been an active artist in the fields of Carnatic music and Bharathanatyam, having performed widely all over the United States.
Smt. Lakshmi Prabhakar, a noted Carnatic vocalist from Roswell, Georgia, has contributed towards Preeti Vinayak’s repertoire by carefully selecting rare compositions suited for dance and also singing these to perfection for student concerts.
Smt. Jassotha Balasubramaniam, a violinist, has been a crucial part of Preeti’s ensemble and has aided Natyam Arts Academy in researching unique pieces for performance.
