Akshadha Mehta, an eighth grader from Dodgen Middle School, Marietta, was announced as the 2024 GA State Merit Winner by 3M and Discovery Education for the annual 3M Young Scientist Challenge, which features outstanding innovations that demonstrate the power of science to improve the world. The young scientist was honored for exemplifying passion for using science to solve everyday problems and improve the world around her. Akshadha was also recognized as one of the top 30 finalists, selected from a pool of top 300 junior innovators, in the 2023 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (JIC), a STEM competition sponsored by the Society of Science.
