The Pre-Wedding Singer: Justin Bieber Performs in India
Here are three signs that you’re a global musical star: (1) You have more than 100 million Instagram followers; (2) your concerts sell out in minutes; and (3) you’ve performed at an Ambani wedding.
Canadian singer Justin Bieber has added his name to the list of stars who have accepted bundles of cash to perform at an Ambani wedding, joining such big names as Beyonce, Rihanna, and John Legend.
Bieber recently performed at the Sangeet ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, entertaining guests with hits such as “Sorry,” “What Do You Mean,” and “Baby.” Anant is the youngest son of billionaire couple Mukesh and Nita Ambani.
Bieber was reportedly paid about $10 million to perform at the pre-wedding ceremony. Performers at other pre-wedding ceremonies for the Ambani- Merchant union have included Katy Perry, Backstreet Boys, Andrea Bocelli, and Rihanna.
When Anant’s older brother, Akash, tied the knot with Shloka Mehta in 2019, the pre-wedding performers included Chris Martin of Coldplay, The Chainsmokers, and Maroon 5.
Anant’s sister, Isha, married Anand Piramal in 2018, and superstar Beyoncé performed at their wedding, giving a mini-concert with background singers. John Legend also sang at the wedding.
