The Challenge of Finding an Apartment in Bengaluru
Finding an affordable apartment in Bengaluru can be an arduous task. Not only are rents too high, landlords can be quite choosy, some even asking prospective tenants to provide LinkedIn profiles and write-ups about themselves.
It’s no wonder that when Twitter user Manthan Gupta posted a photo of a room he had purportedly rented in Bengaluru, it drew a lot of attention. It seemed like a small room, but came with a bed, sink, and cabinet. “Finally found a fully furnished home in Bengaluru. Gated society and 24x7 security,” Gupta wrote.
As NDTV reported, one Twitter user wanted to know if Gupta could share his agent’s number. Another seemed a little envious, commenting on the amount of sunlight entering the room.
Gupta soon revealed that the photo showed a jail cell, prompting a number of humorous comments. “Mere room se 20% hi chota hai aur mere me toh security bhi nahi hai (It’s only 20 percent smaller than my room and I don’t even have security),” one person wrote, while another added: “Gotta hustle hard to get one cell like this.”
