Good Sports: Teen Golfer Wins Tiger Woods Invitational
Karina Jadhav, a 13-year-old from Irvine, California, won the girls 13-15 division at the recent TGR JR Invitational in Pebble Beach, California. Karina was among 60 junior golfers invited to compete in the tournament, named after Tiger Woods.
After three challenging rounds that tested her short-game skills, Karina made the top-two cut for match-play in her age division. She was behind by six strokes at one point in the match and battled her way to tie the match on the final hole. On the second playoff hole against Sophia Lu, Karina made a birdie putt for the win.
For Karina, who aspires to play golf at a Division 1 college, the highlight of the tournament was meeting Tiger Woods and playing in the same tournament as his son, Charlie Woods.
