Samosa Caucus Expands by Twenty Percent

If you buy samosas from a particular restaurant or store, you may have noticed an increase in price (inflation) or a decrease in size (shrinkflation). Sometimes you’re getting smaller samosas and paying more for them.
Thankfully, the Samosa Caucus is only getting bigger, recently welcoming Suhas Subramanyam to Congress. Elected from Virginia’s 10th congressional District, he joins Representatives Ami Bera (California), Pramila Jayapal (Washington), Ro Khanna (California), Raja Krishnamoorthi (Illinois), and Shri Thanedar (Michigan).
“I want to welcome Representative Subramanyam as the Samosa Caucus’s newest member, and look forward to working with him and my other Indian American colleagues to not only deliver for our constituents, but pave the way for future generations of Indian Americans who wish to serve in Congress too,” said Krishnamoorthi, who coined the phrase ‘Samosa Caucus’ eight years ago.
Jayapal, who came to the U.S. when she was 16, is the only Indian American woman to ever be elected to the House of Representatives. “I’m thrilled that we are growing our ‘Samosa Caucus’ in this Congress with Representative Subramanyam and I look forward to continuing to work closely with these colleagues to deliver for our constituents and the country’s Indian American communities,” she said.
Dalip Singh Saund (1957-1963) and Bobby Jindal (2005-2008) also served in the House.
