Ram Wins Doubles Title at U.S. Open
At age 37, Rajeev Ram is enjoying his best run as a tennis pro. He and fellow American Joe Salisbury won the men’s doubles title at this year’s U.S. Open after a hard-fought 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jamie Murray of Britain and Bruno Soares of Brazil.
It was the second grand slam doubles title for the fourth-seeded pair, who were also triumphant at the 2020 Australian Open. Ram now has four grand slam titles to his name, including mixed doubles titles with Czech player Barbora Krejcíková at the 2019 and 2021 Australian Open.
Ram, who hails from Carmel, Indiana, also won a silver medal with Venus Williams at the 2016 Rio Olympics. During his pro career, he has participated in more than 50 grand slam tournaments and plans to keep competing.
“As long as I feel like I’m getting better and I can continue to get better, then I’m going to keep going,” Ram told the Indianapolis Star before competing in this summer’s Olympics.
