MAHINDRA SCOOTS ONTO U.S. ROADS

For just $2,999, you can soon ride around in an electric scooter called GenZe. That’s how Indian automaker Mahindra is making its debut on U.S. roads.

The GenZe, which will initially be available in California, Oregon, and Michigan, has a maximum speed of 30 mph, which means that riders will not need a motorcycle license.

What’s innovative about the scooter is its 28-pound removable battery. When it’s depleted, you can just take it indoors and charge it. A full charge takes 3.5 hours and will give you 30 miles on the road. Not bad if you have a short commute to work or are just making a run to the grocery store.

Perhaps the best thing about the GenZe is its low price. If you don’t have the money, just charge it.
