GOOD SPORTS: Sim Tops the Rim
March Madness didn’t last long for 7-foot-5 Sim Bhullar, but the towering freshman certainly caught the attention of many basketball fans. Playing for New Mexico State in the NCAA Tournament, Bhullar scored four points and had 11 rebounds in a first-round loss to St. Louis University. Before that, the Toronto native, whose parents emigrated from Punjab, won MVP honors at the Western Athletic Conference tournament. Averaging 12.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 3 blocks a game, he led the Aggies (24-10) to the W.A.C. title and an automatic NCAA berth.
Sim’s younger brother, Tanveer, is a 7-foot-3 junior at a West Virginia prep school, and if Menzies manages to recruit him next year, New Mexico State fans won’t have to worry about March Madness. They’ll have to deal with March Mayhem.
