GOOD SPORTS: GOLF AT THE OLYMPICS
January 2012
Golf is returning to the Summer Olympics in 2016, after an absence of almost a century, and one person excited about the sport’s return is Sharmila Nicollet, India’s top women’s professional golfer. The 20-year-old started playing golf at age 11 and won her first amateur tournament at 14. “I dream about representing my country in the 2016 Olympics …” she said in an interview with IndianSportsNews.com. “I think I can make a mark in the Olympics.” Nicollet, who gets as much attention for her looks as her game, has turned down offers from modeling agencies and Bollywood directors. “Anything related to sports, I’ll do,” she said, perhaps opening the door to a role opposite Aamir Khan in the movie Lagaan 2.
