Good Sports: Summer League Title for Princepal Singh
Princepal Singh was mostly a bench-warmer on the Sacramento Kings’ summer league team, but he nevertheless made history as the first Indian to be part of a championship winning team at any level of the NBA.
The Kings recently clinched the 2021 NBA Summer League title with an easy 100-67 victory over the Boston Celtics in the championship game.
A 6-foot-9 inch forward from Gurdaspur, Punjab, Singh played the last four minutes of the final and scored the Kings’ last bucket. He also recorded one rebound.
The 20-year-old made his debut a week earlier, playing the final one minute and 22 seconds of a Kings’ victory over the Washington Wizards in Las Vegas.
Singh told NBA.com that he dreams of playing in regular NBA games. “I want to play for a long time, so I want to keep my body fit and have a long NBA career,” he said.
