Good Sports: Shooting Guard Ishan Sharma Commits to Virginia
Ishan Sharma, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Milton, Ontario, has made a commitment to play for University of Virginia this fall. The Cavaliers offered him a scholarship following his recent visit to the university.
A rising senior at Fort Erie International Academy in Ontario, Ishan has been playing basketball since age 4 and has represented Canada at the 2021 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship and 2022 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup.
“I think my biggest strength is my ability to shoot the ball in catch-and-shoot situations, off-the-dribble situations, live-ball situations and also creating my own shot when defenders overplay me,” he said in an interview with Pro Insight last summer.
Sharma’s older brother, Aryan, also plays basketball. A 6-foot-5 forward, he played four years at Western University in London, Ontario, and is now a developmental player for the Montreal Alliance of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL).
