Good Sports: Shooter Manu Bhaker Wins Two Olympic Medals
Manu Bhaker won two medals in shooting at the Paris Olympics, becoming the first Indian to win multiple medals at a single Olympics and the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting.
Bhaker won a bronze medal in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event, and another bronze with Sarabjot Singh in mixed 10-meter air pistol. She finished fourth in the women’s 25-meter air pistol, coming close to winning a third medal.
“I have no regrets because I tried my best and I realized that there are certain elements that I need to work on and I will definitely try my best the next time around as well,” Bhaker told PTI after her fourthplace finish.
Along with Swapnil Kusale’s bronze medal in men’s 50-meter rifle 3-positions, India has now won seven medals in shooting since 2004, more than in any sport except wrestling.
