Good Sports: PV Sindhu Aims for Third Olympic Medal
Badminton star PV Sindhu, who won a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio and a bronze at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, hopes to add an Olympic gold medal to her collection this year. Sindhu, 28, is preparing for the 2024 Olympic in Paris with a new mentor, Prakash Padukone, and new coach, Indonesia’s Agus Dwi Santoso. She has moved from Hyderabad to Bengaluru to be closer to Padukone, the former All-England Open champion who operates a badminton academy.
“It’s a new year, a new team. Every aspect I touch on is going to be completely different,” Sindhu told Reuters. “Paris is something that’s an ultimate game for us. I think we need to be 100% in every aspect, physically, in skill and in strategy.”
Sindhu is the only Indian to win a world championship in badminton, bringing home gold from the 2019 BWF World Championships in Switzerland.
