Good Sports: Neeraj Chopra Makes History Again
A year after becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in track and field, Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian to win a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships. He accomplished the feat with a javelin throw of 88.13 meters at the recent World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
It was only the second medal that India has ever won at the World Athletics Championships. Anju Bobby George won a bronze medal in long jump in 2003.
Despite making history, Chopra expressed disappointment that he was unable to win gold. “Now, I just have a greater hunger to change the color of this medal to gold in the next Worlds,” he said.
