Good Sports: National Honor for Virginia Tennis Player
Natasha Subhash, a tennis player at University of Virginia, was recently named the national recipient of the 2023 Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award, presented by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. She is the first Virginia studentathlete, male or female, to earn the honor.
A two-time Academic All-American and four-time ITA All-American, Subhash has achieved multiple top 10 singles and doubles rankings in her college career, including a career-high number 3 ranking in doubles this past season.
Twice named the university’s female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Subhash graduated in May and will pursue her master’s degree in accounting at University of Virginia this fall. “My personal philosophy has always been to do whatever I can to help others,” she said. “I have always loved to work with children and those with special needs, and I think the love for this came from my mom who is a middle school special education teacher.”
