Good Sports: Junior Men, Women Triumph in Asia Cup
Just 10 days after the Indian men’s junior hockey team beat Pakistan 2-1 to win the Asia Cup, the Indian women’s junior hockey team beat Republic of Korea by the same score to win the Asia Cup.
While the men’s team won the title for the fourth time, the women’s team hoisted the trophy for the first time. By defeating host nation Japan in the semi-finals, the women’s team qualified for the 2023 Women’s Junior World Cup, which will be held in Santiago, Chile, from Nov. 29 to Dec. 10.
The men’s team also qualified for the 2023 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from Dec. 5 to 16.
The men’s team has won the Junior World Cup twice before, while the women’s team has never finished better than third.
