Good Sports: IRONMAN OFFICER
Indian Police Service officer Krishna Prakash recently became India’s first civil servant to complete the Ironman triathlon. Competing in France, he finished the grueling race, which includes a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride, and a full marathon run (26.2 miles), in 14 hours and eight minutes.
“I actually finished the race seven minutes before what my time shows,” he told Sportskeeda.com. “I was so excited that I ran off course with the Indian tricolor and missed the final checkpoint.”
To prepare for the triathlon, he woke up as early as 3 a.m. each day to swim, run, or cycle. He maintained the routine for about three months.
“After training in the morning, I immediately got home and got ready for work. It was hectic, but I ensured I never bypassed my duty,” he said.
His message to others: “Break your ceilings! There is no such thing as time constraint, physical constraint, or age limit. It is only your iron will that will make you an Ironman.”
