Good Sports: India Wins Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup

Two years after winning the inaugural Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, India trounced South Africa in the final of the 2025 championship to take home the trophy again.
Sixteen teams competed in the 15- day tournament in Malaysia, with India winning all 9 of its matches, including 9-wicket victories over England in the semi-finals and South Africa in the final.
Nineteen-year-old Gongadi Trisha was the star of the tournament, scoring 309 runs, 133 runs more than England’s Davina Perrin, who finished second in runs scored. In the final against South Africa, Trisha picked 3-15 and scored an unbeaten 44 from 33 balls in the chase.
After receiving the Player of the Tournament award, she dedicated it to her father, G. Rami Reddy, who started her on cricket early, giving her a plastic bat when she was just 2. “Without him, I wouldn’t be here,” she said.
