Good Sports: GYMNAST WINS BRONZE
Aruna Budda Reddy, a 22-year-old gymnast from Hyderabad, made history at the recent gymnastics World Cup in Melbourne, Australia, when she won a bronze medal in women’s vault.
She is the third Indian gymnast to win a medal at the world level, but the first to do so at the World Cup. Ashish Kumar won a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, while Dipa Karmakar won bronze in women’s vault at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Congratulating her at his official residence, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced a cash prize of Rs. 2 crore for Reddy, who has a black belt in karate.
